“Who are we (TTMC)?” by Rev Poh on 24th Feb 2019 (8.30a.m. Service)

Pastor Poh at the inaugural morning service at TTMC’s new sanctuary at Tabuan Laru shared about how the Methodist Church came about in the early days. He recalled how the early Roman Catholic Church later in the year 1517, because of reformed by Martin Luther formed the Lutheran Church of which later evolved into the other mainline Protestant Churches. Later in the year 1787 that was where the Methodist Church was formed because of its founder John Wesley. He then stressed on the three fundamental truth based on the Apostles’ Creed which formed the basis of our belief in our God in Trinity (Matthew 3:16-17).

The first is, we believe in God, our Father, who is the Almighty Father in heaven (Genesis 1:1). Using an example, he explained that although Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, God still loves us (1 John 4:8b). Second is our belief in Jesus Christ, the Son who was born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 14:27, 35). Third, we believe in the Holy Spirit and He is our Comforter (John 14:16). He noted the Holy Spirit testified our identity as God’s children (Roman 8:15b – 16) and the life everlasting (John 3:16) which is fundamentally the most important of our belief. Having said that, he concluded by having the following points. Is God still the master of our life and is TTMC prepares to walk together in 2019 with a New Life as Disciples of Christ?
