“When Facing a Long and Winding Journey” by Dr. Simon Wong on 12 Aug 2018
During the Exodus, the Preacher shared that if the Israelites were to use the shorter route through the Philistine country (Exo 13:17), the people would face many unforeseen dangers such as war etc., but God chose a long and winding route. We have to be thankful that something good came out of it. So what do we learn? Trust God for something good that came out of it. As in the pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night represents the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised us to guide us and show us the way. Everything is possible with the power of the Holy Spirit. As in 1 Cor 10: 1-2, they were all baptised into Moses in the clouds and in the sea, but for us we are baptised into new life with Jesus. As in crossing the Red sea, God parted the red sea, but for us today it means baptism into Jesus salvation and death to sins. It is a reminder of our death to Sins and to live a new life in a risen Christ. Why was God passionate about His glory? The main thing was His love and concerns for the lost. So let us continue to live a death-to-Sins life to glorify God.
