“Walking with God” by Dr. Simon Wong on 12th Jan 2020
The preacher, Dr. Simon Wong encourages us to learn from Enoch how he walked with God. He noted that he walked faithfully with God for 300 years which is a very long time. Dr. Wong observed that his action pleases the Lord and he had a perfect relationship with God as he walked faithfully with God. After that, he noted God took him away and he was no more (Genesis 5:24). “Thus, is our relationship as good as our relationship with God?,” asked Dr. Wong. He believed that walking with God is more than just a relationship. He opined that walking with God or having a good relationship with our heavenly Father is about discipleship, following Christ and obedience. It is also about resisting temptation, pride, handling tough conditions and so forth. He believed that our Father will hold us when we fall. He also shared that in the formation of the English District Conference (EDC), we need to walk harmoniously, more friendly, be more forgiving and that whatever comes, God will take care of us. He added that most importantly, we need to walk faithfully with God. As mentioned in Jude 1:14-15, Enoch detested ungodliness. “He prophesied judgement and conviction when Christ comes again. When we walked with God we are reminded that our ungodly behaviour may also become a stumbling block (Matthew 18:6). We need to please God by living a holy life (1Thess 4:1,7),” he said. Therefore, Dr. Wong encourages us to distance ourselves from any ungodliness in order to embrace the Lord’s holiness and to live a life that pleases our Lord.
