Read Through the Bible

This is the introduction to start this spiritual journey together.

In the past few months we have witnessed how human race is humbled by a minute invisible virus, that started a pandemic that almost bring the whole world to a standstill. As God’s children while we are trying to comprehend what our Lord is saying to us in this difficult time, we are being pounded with load of information and messages from every direction. We heard that this is God’s anger and punishment similar to what happened to the disobedient Israelite in the wilderness, God is testing us just like what happened to Job in the Bible, signs of second coming of Christ and end of the world, etc. In the light of these stern and chilling messages, if believers read through the Bible, our hearts will be comforted to see though God disciplined his chosen people severely He kept His promise and led the descendants of Israel into the promised land, how faithful Job was vindicated and restored after going through the sufferings and testings, with end of World signs there will be glory and eternal life promised by God for the faithful at the second coming of Christ, etc. we believe God will speak to us, not only on current issues, but also to other other aspects of our life and shows us his will through His Words, if we faithfully read and hold on to His World, the Bible.

We thank God that today He still speaks to us and guide us through the Bible, as in Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. The bible is the primary and the most important source of our Christian beliefs (*Ref 1)

First and foremost Read Through The Bible will give us a good overview of Bible.

Insight to the Parable of Blind men and an  Elephant.

If a blind men have a good overview of elephant’s profile before hand, when he touches the leg, he will not develop a false impression that elephant is like a pillar pole, instead he can figure out what he is holding is an elephant leg and can further investigate and admire how the strong legs can support and move the heavy elephant around.

Similarly when we do any “deep drive” Bible Study on any Bible passage, good overview of Bible will help us to understand this passage in the context of the whole Bible.

On the other hand many may have difficulty or wonder how to start Bible Reading, click here for examples.

Therefore  TTMC continues to encourage Church members to take up Read Through The Bible program and read through the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation. This is a program to help member to get an overview of the whole Bible by covering a few chapters each day. We suggest the following  3 steps to get started:

1) Choose a Bible Translation of your choice

2) Decide where to start, Old Testament or New testament.  To track your progress, please download and print the following chart or get a copy from Church office.

3) Watch either overview New Testament video or Old Testament video below before you start. You may want to go through the video couple of time to give you a high level overview of the Bible, which we pray will help you to get started.
