“Go and Light the World” by Rev Lau on 17th Mar 2019
Good and potential people are many, but are not productive. The mentality is that they think they may fail, so they might as well stay quiet. So it is just like hiding the one talent and buries it in the ground, but that is not the point. The issue is whether we have made good use of the talents given by God. First, God calls His people to be productive and not only be potential. Secondly, God want us to utilise the power given to us. Acts 1:8 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”.
God not only want us to reach to Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, God definitely calls us to be the salt and light to our family and to the neighbourhood around us. We need the power to flex our muscles to reach out. Jesus Christ wants us to be powerful. If we do not move from being passive to become powerful, it is as if we do not want to change as we just want to be happy where we are. The church is not a church if we do not exist for others. The power is not for us but is for bringing more people to the Church. It is for others and is for serving others. Next time when we ask for those blessing, we must be prepared to use those blessings. Thirdly, we need to move from being productive to passionate. In the Parable it is not important how much had been given to you; it is a matter of how we use the talent. So GO and LIGHT the World passionately and productively. Therefore, DO NOT WAIT for someone else!
