Ushering

It is one of the vital part of any church ministry. The ushers represent the church in a very visible way, and help to set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as assisting the smooth operation in the church service.

The church usher has various duties to perform. Generally ushers may perform some or all of the followings:

(1) Before service starts : On all the air-conditioners and lights, greet and distribute bulletins to the guests, usher the guests to be seated, obtain new visitor’s information, etc.

(2) During the service : Assist latecomers to find a seat, count the attendance, collect tithes and offerings, control the flow of worshippers during the Holy Communion,  maintain  an atmosphere of reverence as well as provide gifts to new visitors and etc.

(3) After the service : Greet the congregation as they leave the church, tidy up the sanctuary, off the air-conditioners and lights, lock up the sanctuary and any other duties which is deemed appropriate.
