Remembering the Poor

At today’s message, 23rd Oct, at the 5 pm service, with the title of the sermon taken from Gal 2:10, interestingly the speaker bro. Jih Ren touched on the question of “Who are the poor?” He reminded us that they are not just the economically & materially poor, but they are inclusive of the following:

1. Financially & materially in need.
2. Oppressed and displaced
3. Justice deprived
4. Physically sick & spiritually unwell.
5. Widows, Orphans & sojourners.

The speaker also touches on 3 main points about the responses from God for the poor i.e.

A. God is the refuge of the poor
B. God hears their cry
C. God cares for the poor

His message concluded with a warning from the prophet Amos (Amos 5:21-24) and a promise by the prophet Jeremiah (Jer 32:37-41).
