“Neighbour” by Bro Chang Jih Ren on 9th Dec 2018

Jesus answered the lawyer in Luke 10:25-37 with the parable of the good Samaritan. The world today is crying out for good neighbours. According to the Preacher, lawyers usually do not asked simple questions. When asked by Jesus, whom do you think is your neighbour? The lawyer did not answer directly as the “Samaritan”, but as “The one who had mercy on him” (v37). So do you have a “Samaritan” in your life?

Is that someone who backstabs you in the office? etc. So who is your neighbour? On the other hand, how do you love your neighbour? The answer is to love yourself (v27). This means to say that you are to forgo your self preservation, self forbearance and inner prejudice. For e.g. if we have prejudice, how can we love the one we do not like. That means if we surrender the rights to ourselves you are moving in a spiritual journey closer to church. A church which does not have broken people is broken. So this Christmas, do you have a good Samaritan in your life?
