“My Stand towards Gospel” by Rev. Poh on 1st March 2020
“Are we ashamed or proud to be a Christian?” the preacher Rev Poh asked during his sermon. He asserted that Apostle Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel. Thus, Rev Poh asked another question to the congregation. He said, “What is your stand towards the Gospel? He explained that the Gospel is the power of God for everyone to be saved as mentioned in the book of (Romans 1:16a) for instance to reconcile our broken relationship with God. He observed that although Jesus performed many miracles, he was arrested, judged, crucified, died on the cross and finally resurrected on the third day. Thus, he believed, we, as Christians have been entrusted with the responsibility to spread the Gospel because Jesus died for us on the cross to cleanse our sin. “In God’s eyes we are all sinners. Jesus is the only righteous one to save us (Rom 1:17a). How are we sure that God had wiped out all our sins? By faith we believe that God had wiped out all our sins. It is by grace we have been saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8),” he said. In the meantime, he raised a few questions which allows us to ponder in our lives. “Do you have the faith that if you die tonight you will go to heaven? So is it your belief that the Gospel is God’s divine power to save all mankind? he asked. Hence, Rev Poh encourages us to grow our little faith day by day through encountering God for instance prayers and reading the Bible in order to be sure of our salvation. He noted that faith without action is dead.
