Membership & Evangelism

Membership & Evangelism works closely with Small Group, Social Concern and Christian Education.  Our focus is to connect with members and worshippers, to encourage, show care and to evangelize. 
The committee members of Membership & Evangelism Ministry consists of:
Noreen Tan (Leader), Ronnie Hii, Dr. Lee Khoon Siew, Chan Yeat Lin, Lee Swee Kim and Lau Yien Tin.

From Jan and February, 2020 there was tremendous growth in our congregation.  The average attendance of our morning service at Tabuan Laru  was 160 people whereas our evening service at Chin Daw Methodist Church was 170 people.  Many worshippers who came every Sunday were not members but they chose to worship at TTMC.  We made intentional effort to get to know one another better so that we can help our members and worshippers to become disciple of Christ and then they can make disciple for Christ.  As part of our vision which is to become a growing communal church, we would like our members and worshippers to participate in church life and grow in maturity in Christ.  We also want to see more members joining small groups so that they can build up their faith through Bible study and fellowship. 

Before the lockdown on 18 March, 2020 we have 176 members which include 143 full members.  During Easter we were supposed to do baptism and confirmation but due to MCO, we have to put on hold the event.  We didn’t  finished the full 6 sessions of Baptism/Confirmation classes in church as planned, but we continued the remaining 3 sessions via zoom in May.  We have finally finished all the 6 sessions with all the 15 candidate to be added on to membership.   We will fix a date to baptize and confirm the candidates as soon as possible.

During this pandemic we realized the whole church needs to turn our functional leadership to relational.  Thus we conducted training on 2 Saturday afternoons on 16 and 23 May for all the Leaders, Ministry Leaders and sub-committee Leaders to help them realize the importance of getting connected with their members/committee. For worshippers about 80 people who are not in Small Group or serving in any ministry yet, they are put into 5 Care Groups (10-15 persons in each group).  Each leader made intentional effort to take care of these groups of people.  Thus the whole church is consistently connected with our members and worshippers through the SG Leaders, the Care Group Leaders and different Ministries/Sub Committee leaders.

We also have started our Home Visitation to members via zoom.  Our virtual Home Visitation is on every Tue evening.  We find Home Visitation very meaningful and helpful to build relationship.  Many find they are loved and blessed.  If you know of anyone who needs visitation or willing to open for our visit, please do contact Noreen or Dr. Lee.

To help members be equipped, we are starting a 10 sessions study on Growing In Christ via zoom starting this Sunday on 7 June.  Registration is opened to all.  Please contact person in charge Bro Kong Yu, Noreen or Audrey. 

Under the leadership of Rev. Lenita Tiong, the District Superintendent of English District Conference, it was decided to go ahead with our XEE Clinic but do online.  It will be held 2 nights a week (7pm to 9:30pm) over a period of 3 weeks, making a total of 6 nights or 15 hours.  The dates are 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 & 25 August, 2020.  We encourage leaders to join so as to get equipped and to be prepared to conduct future XEE sessions to bless others.

When Tabuan Trinity Methodist Church became a full church in November 2017, we had 111 full members. As time goes by, we have grown to have 157 members of which 136 of them are full members as at May 2019. The attendance of our morning service at Tabuan Laru was averaging 80 to 90 people while for the evening service at Chin Daw Methodist Church, we had about 160 to 170 worshippers. Many worshippers who came every Sunday were not members but they chose to worship at TTMC. Therefore, we need to continue to get to know one another better so that we can help our members and worshippers to become a disciple of Christ and then they can make disciple for Christ. As part of our vision which is to become a growing communal church, we would like our members and worshippers to participate in church life and grow in maturity in Christ. We also want to see more of our members joining small groups so that they can build up their faith through Bible study and fellowship. Likewise, we will continue to reach out to non-believers so that they will get to know Jesus Christ our Lord through evangelistic sermons, special events, visitation and prayers as well as sharing of testimonies.
