“Fan into Flame” by Rev. Poh on 6th Oct 2019

The preacher, Rev. Poh reminded us in 2 Timothy 1:6 that we are to fan the flame the gift of God which is in us. Speaking on the topic of spiritual gifts, he said God blessed those with establishing gifts such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers and so on. “There are those who are blessed with supporting gifts of serving,  giving, caring, encouragement (Romans 12) and some are blessed with ministry gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, teaching, miracles, leadership, and prophecy (1 Corinthians 12). As leaders in the church, we are called to fan into flames on those who serve in the Local Church Executive Council (LCEC). When we serve, we serve with the power of the Spirit. When God calls us, God didn’t give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (v7),” he said. He pointed out that when we serve in the church’s ministry, it is not by might, nor by power, but by the power of the Holy spirit as in (Zechariah 4:6b). Lastly, he stressed that we need to testify with the power of the Spirit. He believed that in order for us to follow Jesus Christ faithfully, we need to suffer for the Gospel, and be prepared to serve Him wholeheartedly and encounter God. As in Romans 1:16 which says, I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of every one who believes. So, are we able to walk out of our comfort zone and testify God and share His Gospel in all circumstances and at all times? Hence, let us fan one another into flame!
