“Be Still and Know” by Rev. Lenita Tiong on 10th Nov 2019

As we look at the world today, how can we have peace when we have problems and situations that we face in and around us? The preacher Rev Lenita Tiong believed that regardless of our problems, God is with us all the time. The question is can we hear and see Him? And how does God speak to us? She explained that God speaks to us in Spirit and in truth. She expounded by saying that as Christians, we are filled with the Holy Spirit and the truth is from the Bible. Hence, she pointed out that we need to learn to desire God’s Word. She encourages us to read the Bible not as an action but as a desire to know and have a deeper relationship with God so that we can grow our faith. She noted that there are various devotional materials available in the market like the Daily Bread, books of the Bible and so forth. She revealed that the two books she favoured the most are “My Utmost for His Highest” and “Experiencing God Day- by-Day.”

In the meantime, she observed that most of us live a stressful life, whether we are a teacher, doctor, engineer, or regardless of what occupations we are doing. Thus, she believed most of us are tired looking for meaning in life and also to experience Him talking and walking with us. “Are we there for Him to speak to us? The inner person is to be quiet and to learn from Him just to be in His presence. Hence, we can say, “Be Still and Know that I am God” as in Psalms 45:10,” she said.
