Reflection/Exhortation 6: Covid19 – The LOVE (19.05.2020)
Covid-19 – The Love by Bong Kui Chew (Boys’ Brigade)
Covid-19 is not a temporary issue. Without the right vaccine there is no end, just like SARS, MERS, H1N1 and so forth. However, prevention is always better than cure.
We in BB also felt the same, struggling how to connect back to our Boys in order to maintain our relationship, classes, training, nurturing works & eventually how to grow not only in term of membership but the quality of their lives. We managed to meet up most of the Boys from Borneo International School (BIS) but none from SMK Tabuan Jaya. Boys from SMKTJ are 100% indigenious and almost all of them were unreachable simply because they were all “balik kampung” to their respective rural homes all over Sarawak where there is no internet or telecommunication connections.
In April & May 2020, Officers were apprehensive on how to conduct our meetings despite of limited resources & physical meet up. We’ve tried out Zoom meetings. However, the programme we had planned were difficult to execute effectively via Zoom. in addition to limitation of internet strength.
On the second thought, there are six (6) senses that cannot be denied are Sight, Smell, Taste, Sound, Touch & Feelings. Through any virtual/internet mean of communication, 50% of the senses were cut off (Taste, Touch & Smell). Left the Sound, Sight & Feelings. Feelings or Emotion can be further elaborated mentally & spiritually. We never gave up developing base on the remaining 3 senses available.
Jesus died on the cross with His scars & blood shed for our salvation. He took away our sins and gave us new lives. His love for us is unconditional & forever. For this reason, LOVE is the keynote to any activities be it “new normal”, under or post CMCO.
As Hebrews 10:25 stated “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
