Reflection/Exhortation 1: Family Worship (27.04.2020)

Family Worship by Noreen Tan (Membership & Evangelism)

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

I always believe in all things that happened God has a purpose.

I always asked God to reveal that purpose to me and how can I be changed and how can I serve Him better?

This pandemic – MCO  — What is God revealing to me and how can I serve Him?

Recently I listened to Pastor Edmund Chan’s message.  His beginning address to this pandemic:

  1. A season of stress
  2. A season for soul searching.

Yes, I totally agree with him.  I have many stress.

Stress of having to cancel my long planned trip to Melbourne in March to visit my 2nd son Gerry and his family.  I miss them especially my 2 granddaughters.

Stress of my children’s job security.

Commitment is heavy.  Will there will be a pay cut?

Will the company be able to sustain?

Many questions, issues and stress were shared in my family chat group.

I told my children we cannot do anything but can only keep matters in prayer and to focus our eyes on Jesus.

One day the Lord convicted in my heart to ask this question.

“Can we find a time on Sunday to do Family Worship via zoom?”

Surprisingly my son Gerry said “Find a time?  We have plenty of time now!!”

Wow.. this really encouraged me and so we fixed a time for our Sunday Family Worship.

Last Sunday was our 5th Family Worship.

1st Sunday Richard took the lead.  He got a message from Daily Living Water and selected 2 songs.  Harry diligently prepared the power point and we had a great beginning.

2nd Sunday Gerry and his family led us.  He and his 2 daughters formed a family band of guitar, violin and drum in praise and worship.  My 2 granddaughters read Psalm 23 to us.

Young and old, we took part in leading and sharing and it was so wonderful.

We read God’s Word, reflect and share on the message and see how we can apply the Word into our lives.

We also had fun time like sharing our talent, played some games and  shared other needs in the family.

We normally closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

Most importantly Richard and I are so thankful that during MCO God has given our family this opportunity to share the gospel to our eldest Son, Hwang.  He is a pre believer.  It is always difficult to invite him to church but he joined Family Worship every Sunday.

We pray for softening of heart and God opens Hwang’s eyes to see Him and to accept Jesus as his personal savior.

Pray for Richard and me to have wisdom in all areas to lead our children and their family to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Pray for perseverance to continue Family Worship weekly.

I also want to thank God that during MCO I have the opportunity to reach out and connect with many church members and friends whom I didn’t have opportunity before. My desire is to intentionally reach out with love, care and concern and to help them to draw near to God.  Praise the Lord that in this challenging time I experienced His blessings to me and my family.

To God be all the glory!!
