6 Nov Worship Service

Our speaker Rev Lau in his sermon today 6th Nov 2016, started with an advice taken from Proverbs 9:10. In his sermon, he touches on the book of Ecclesiastes which emphasizes that life without God is meaningless. The author in the book of Ecclesiastes shows us that our lives can be sad and unfulfilled without God. He also warns us that happy and prosperous lives will end in disaster if centred on earthly things, but the author assures us of a sensible life with God by turning back to Him. There are three (3) things that we can learn in life as follows:-

1. Life without God is meaningless i.e. with God, even the most simplicity of life can be very fulfilling, but without God “…what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? (Matthew 16:26)
2. Riches & success in life can result all in vanity or meaningless if we do not seek God first. “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless” (Eccl 5:10)
3. From “under the Sun” to “Under the Heaven” – Back to a sensible life with God. “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind” (Eccl 12:13).
